Leadership & Representation in the Legislative Process

The Nelson County Schools was fortunate to have several teachers attend the Spring Legislative Session in Frankfort this March.

The goal of this process was to:

1. Allow our remarkable team of teacher leaders to share our powerful Nelson County story.
2. Ensure we were represented as a district community during the legislative process.
3. Build our shared awareness of the decision making factors.

"We were very fortunate to have been able to obtain Gallery passes for the House of Representatives. We were able to sit in the Gallery and observe the 12:00 Session from the time it began until almost 4:00. I am thrilled to have been able to represent Boston and Nelson County Schools on Tuesday in Frankfort. It's important to me to be an active part of this cause. Thank you for the opportunity to attend. I would gladly go again, anytime." - Angela Ford (Boston)

"Thanks for giving us the opportunity to travel to Frankfort yesterday as delegates for Nelson County. We were able to meet with Senator Higdon to discuss the two bills that have been presented (HB 525/205), as well as an additional bill (250) that concerned SBDMs in Jefferson County. He gave us his opinion on the bills and their futures. We were also invited onto the senate floor and were able to watch the session up close. Senator Higdon was very complimentary of our county, and mentioned wanting to attend the Community Brew in the future."  - Kathy Walker (Bloomfield Elementary)

We are so grateful for these teacher leaders! YES.
